Dayton has long been known as the "Cradle
of Aviation". It is the home of the Wright
Brothers with Orville Wright still maintaining a
home here. Celebrations are held each year to
commemorate their flight at Kitty Hawk in
1903. Wright and Patterson fields are located
here with 5,000 acres of land making these the
largest flying fields in the world. This is the
center of aeronautical research of the United
States Army Corps.
