shallow pools in the center of the Espla-
nade have colorful designs in terrazzo
symbolic of the twelve months. The
twelve-sided building is of massive con-
struction in huge cut blocks of rainbow
granite. The Planetarium is in the cen-
tral hall under the dome; the Museum
is in the surrounding corridors. The
institution is the gift of Max Adler of
Chicago.
