HERCULES
All who travel the Montauk Highway are sure
to notice by the roadside at Canoe Place the old
ship's figurehead, a skillfully carved bust of
Hercules, mounted on a pedestal. This was the
figurehead of the U. S. Frigate "Ohio", and was
carved in Greece and presented by the govern-
ment authorities at Athens to the "Ohio". It is
located in charming Hampton Bays, just 84 miles
from New York City.
