$20 Reward! Stolen in this City, November 13th 1889, a Victor Safety Bicycle, No.2069, "89" pattern. Number found on frame, where the seat rod goes through, opposite to the set screw. Reward for recovery of property. Arrest anyone found in possession and telegraph. W.D. Brown, Chief of Police. San Jose, Cal., Nov. 14, 1889. P.S.--The machine had no saddle on when stolen.
