There have been four in this country: The first at Phila-
delphia, on the Atlantic seaboard, in 1876; the second, on the
MIŠSISSIPPI, at New Orleans, in 1884; the third, in the
MISSISSIPPI Valley region, at Chicago, in 1893; the fourth.
at St. Louis, on the MISSISSIPPI, in 1904.

1884 New Orleans gave a Cotton Exhibition, an International
Fair, and requested Congress to instruct the President to
invite the nations of the world to exhibit.
