POST OFFICE - Palo Alto, California Built in 1932 at 380 Hamilton Avenue, its facilities are hard-pressed to serve this rapidly growing community. The city was founded in 1889 and incorporated in 1894. Palo Alto means Tall Tree, a name given by the early Spanish explorers to the historic redwood tree at the northwest entrance to the city.
