PUEBLO INDIAN ESTUFA OR KIVA,
NEW MEXICO.
A large circular external wall, (turret like) with closed in
roof. Access being only
by descending a ladder through a
hole in the roof. Of the mysteries that take place here prac-
tically nothing is known for in spite of the fact that the
Indians of New Mexico and Arizona are nominally Catholic
they are intensely conservative regarding their ancient
religious rites.
