This spot marks the original site of the first
settlement of the old Spanish pueblo which has
grown to the metropolitan city of Los Angeles. Some
of the original buildings such as the Avila Residence
built in 1818, and the Pelanconi Winery in 1850 are
still standing. The new modern City Hall can be
seen in the background.
