ART PUBLISHERS TO THEIR MAJESTIES THE KING & QUEEN.
THE MANSION HOUSE, on the southeast corner of 5th and
Penn Streets, was opened as a public house about 70 years
ago. The iot, on which the building is erected, was conveyed
by the Penns in January, 1765, for the yearly rental of eight
pounds sterling. As it now stands, the Mansion House, a
splendid Colonial building of brick and stone, contains 126
sleeping rooms, many with private baths.
