THE POST OFFICE occupies a central location, convenient
to residents on both sides of the railroad, which divides the
community into two sections. The Post Office was established in
1850, and is now an especially important institution by reason
of the fact that free delivery from this central office is made
to all of Altoona's numerous and populous suburbs.
