Thomas Alva Edison was born in 1847 in Ohio.
In 1808 he moved to Boston and secured a
position there with a telegraph company
and besides owned a little store for me-
chanical instruments and experimenting;
later he went to New York, perfected some
more instruments in telegraphy and started
a factory; amongst his most notable inven-
tions are the telephone, phonograph, mi-
crophone, micro-tasimeter, aerophone, meg-
aphone, phonoplex, etc.; he improved the
dynamo, invented the incandescent light and
various other lighting systems.
