| Block Island's North Light, is also known as Sandy Point Light. The 1st North Light was built in 1829. Wind and sea erosion caused damage to this lighthouse, which was rebuilt in 1837, 1857, and 1867. The 1st lightkeeper was Wm. A. Weeden. This light was automated in 1955 and stopped operations in 1973. |
