RHODE ISLAND LIGHTHOUSES
Block Island's Southeast Lighthouse stands 200 feet
above sea level on cliffs of the Terminal Moraine created
by glacial debris of the Ice Age. The sea is constantly
eroding the cliffs endangering the Lighthouse. In August
1993 this Lighthouse was moved 245 feet inland to a more
permanent location. This photograph shows the new site
