President Reagan signs the condolence book at the Soviet
embassy three days after Yuri Andropov's death was
announced. After a state funeral for Andropov in Red
Square attended by thousands, New Communist Party
chief, Konsantin Chernenko walked slowly to the podium,
and in a raspy voice, stumbled over words, lost his place,
thus raising widespread doubts about his health. February
