| Stoddard Country is the largest country in the Missouri "Bootheel" and the eight largest in the state. It has a land area of 837 squaremmiles .The first settlers of Stoddard Country were the Benjamin Taylor family of North Carolina who moved into the area in 1825. Stoddard Country was moved into the area in 1825. Stoppard Country was orgaized Jan. 2 nd , 1836. itr was named for Captain Amoa Stoddard who took possession of this state after the Louisiana Purchase in 1804. |
