LADY BELLE
A Tribute by one of her ardent

--
("Little Boy Blue” of Radioland)
I am DESMOND'S little pony,
And my name is 'LADY BELLE,'
My home is on the third floor,
And the children know me well.
My coat is black and shiny,
Because I had a shave,
My mane and tail are bushy,
With a lovely marcel wave.
My feet are round and tiny
My shoes are Number two
My dignity is mighty
And my blood is very blue.
I have a little baby,
I'm proud to call him mine,
I wish I might describe him,
But I haven't space nor time.
I named him “Little Rudy"
Because he's such a Sheik,
I love him very dearly,
And lick his little cheek.
And all the little children,
Who come into our store,
May always come and ride me,
Around the saw-dust floor.
And all I ask is sometime,
When I am old and gray,
They'll kindly think of 'Lady Belle'
When they are far away.
We all grow old together,
Through the sunshine and the rain ;
Somewhere in “Perpetual Pastures,
They'll find Lady Belle, again.
-Odette Durand.
