4654 Scotts Valley Drive, Scotts Valley CA. In 1946 Axel Erlandson, a retired bean farmer, began grafting and shaping the branches of as many as fifteen trees together to form living chairs, ladders, towers, birdcages and spiral staircases for a total of 66 different specimens. Axel's living trees are unquestionably the most sophisticated of their kind in the history of horticulture.
