Hotel Jeffery, Salinas, Calif.
Here for the night. This is a won-
derful agricultural district – they ship
out 60,000 carloads of vegetables a
year.
Located here are trial seed gardens
of Ferry-Morse Company and the
Spreckels plant of the Spreckels Sugar
Company – the largest in the world.
Mr. Jeffery has developed a new
hybrid beef cattle – a cross between
the Charollais of France and the
Brahman. They have less bone and
less surface fat with a greater percent-
age of red meat and are a much longer
animal which in turn gives you a
greater area of the higher priced meat.
Calves weigh 125 pounds more at
weaning time. Looks good to me.
