BREAKING CAMP.-Tents, provisions, equipments
for the trip, the salt, arsenic, cotton-batting and
everything required by the naturalists, are packed
up in loads averaging fifty pounds, but on no con-
sideration exceeding sixty. On account of the scien-
tific nature of this expedition, causing all specimens
to he preserved, 240 porters were required.
