ZEPPELIN.
The Zeppelin Airships are named after their inventor,
the celebrated Count Zeppelin, a General in the German
Army. The following incidents in the history of these air-
ships are of considerable interest:-Nov. 7th, 1908-- Zeppelin
airship with the Crown Prince of Germany on board, made
five hours' trip; March 19th, 1909--Zeppelin I. carried
26 passengers; April 6th-The same ship made an all-
night voyage; May 29th to June 2nd--Zeppelin 11. travelled
610 miles in 373 hours; Zeppelin II. travelled from Fried-
richshafen to Frankfort in if hrs. 50 mins. ; August 27th-
29th-Zeppelin ill. journeyed from Friedrichshafen to
Berlin and mancuvred over that city ; Sept. 9th-The
King of Saxony made a two hours' voyage in Zeppelin III.
The length of these ships is about 450 ft.
