THE VOISIN BĪPLANE.
The Voisin Biplane really consists of a series of box-
kites with a box-kite tail and a single rudder in front for
rising or falling and is mounted on wire wheels which
enable it to obtain its initial speed by travelling along
the ground previous to rising. It has a single propeller
which is driven direct from the engine. The Voisin
Biplane is one of the earliest types of French machines, the
Voisin Brothers being for many years occupied exclusively
with aeroplane construction. The original idea of this
aeroplane was evolved by M. Chanute.
