THE EAGLE GATE
SALT LAKE CITY UTAH
originally supported double gates, forming
part of the unique cobblestone wall ground
Brigham Young's estate. Since the road was
opened through (now known as State Street)
the gate has been preserved in the form of
an archway. The eagle, originally carved
out of wood, has been sheathed with copper
to protect it from the elements. The State
Capitol, standing at the head of 30 mile long
State Street, can be seen through the arch.
