CALIFORNIA RAISIN
DA
The great central valley of California, watered by
streams from the snow-capped Sierras, is the home
of the raisin. Here the same sun, which calls from
the vines their luscious fruit, kisses sweetness into
the grapes, turns their juice to nectar, and finally
transforms them into raisins.
Authorities on nutrition, food scientists, climbers
of mountains and lovers of delicious confections
unite in proclaiming the merits of the raisin. M. E.
Jaifa, Director of the California State Pure Food
Laboratory and Professor of Nutrition at the Univer-
sity of California, says a combination of California
nuts and raisins is a happy one and if these two
foods are used with bread we have a perfect meal."
Eat and enjoy, and afterwards remember, this
delicious dainty from the vineyards of California.
