Los Angeles County, situated in Southern Cali-
fornia, 150 miles north of the Mexican border,
covers an area of 4,115 square miles and has a
population of 2,319,830. It has 635,949 automo-
biles, or practically half of all the automobiles in
California. For years it has led all counties of
the nation in agricultural production. In 1926 its
agricultural, horticultural and livestock production
was valued at $92,484,935. Its industrial produc-
tion is valued at nearly $1,278,000,000 annually,
while its harbor handles yearly, cargoes totalling
25,133,963 tons, valued at $910,822,189. It has
an assessed valuation of $3,371,219,634, based on
50 per cent of actual value. It is an ideal year
'round playground and Nature's workshop.
