THE TERCENTENARY OF CONNECTICUT
Washington stopped at the tavern over night in 1781
on his way to Wethersfield to meet Rochambeau.
Later, home of Judge Gould, one of the proprietors of
the Litchfield Law School who for several years used
a part of his house for classes.
The Law School was erected in 1789 by Honorable
Tapping Reeve who established here the first law
school in the United States, 1775-1833
