Launching of a U.S. Dreadnaught at the Navy Yard

The U.S. Navy Yard extends along the East River 2 1/2 miles and covers an area of 144 acres. It was established in 1803 and the first steam warship "Fulton" was built here in 1815. The 26,000 ton super dreadnaught "New York" was built here in 1911-1914. The yard can be reached by the Flushing Avenue car from the Brooklyn Bridge. H. Finkelstein & Son |
