Engine used in early days to haul ore to mill from Mary Harrison mine. Hang-Tree - Of the numerous lynchings on this tree, the most dramatic occurred at daybreak of March 16, 1865, when Leon Ruiz was strung up for the brutal murder of two Chinese sisters at Bear Valley and robbing their sluice box of more than six hundred dollars in gold.
