| This restoration memorializes one of the volunteer fire departments of 19th century Mobile. Built in the 1850's and used until shortly after 1900. Firefighting was an early American sport which in the 18th and 19th century was said to be more popular than baseball-one of the main contest was to see which "team" could shoot water the highest. |
