First town in Amador County. In 1848, miners panned
gold in the Creek Bed and Gulches. Mollie Boone,
descendent of Daniel Boone, was born here Dec. 2,
1849.
population of 8,000 whites and 2,000 Chinese. Gold
can still be panned here in dry creek.
