The S. S. Imperator is the largest vessel afloat. Launched
May 23, 1912, at Hamburg, Germany, and Christened
**Imperator" by his Majesty Emperor William the Second.
The Bronze Eagle with the Imperial Crown was designed by
Professor Bruno Kruse of Berlin, Germany. Length 920 feet 6
inches, breadth 98 feet, 57,000 tons displacements, speed 22%
knots an hour. There are 15 decks, Gymnassiums swimming
pool, winter garden, grill room, restaurant, private dining
rooms, etc. Maiden trip June 11, 1913 from Hamburg. Capacity
4200 passengers, 1180 crew.
