San Francisco & Sacramento Railroad
Additional Details:
Rebuilt from an old steam coach purchased from the Central Pacific Railway for service on the Danville Branch of the Oakland & Antiock Railway. Originally known as the San Ramon Valley Railroad, this branch ran from Saranap to Danville, a distance of seven miles. Line abandoned in 1923, at which time No. 1C51 was taken to the Oakland Shops, stripped of its electrical equipment, trucks, etc. and body scrapped. The salvaged equipment was used in building freight motor No. 602, still in daily service. From the Darlene Thorne Collection |
