Poston, Arizona was named after Charles Poston when he and a group of engineers were looking for ports along the Colorado River for inland shipping.During WWII Poston was used to house 20,000 Japanese as a work camp. Following the installation of dams along the Colorado River in 1938 and the installation of Head Gate Rock Dam near Parker, Poston became the center of 107 thousand acres of potential farmland under lease from the Colorado River Indian tribes.
