government of Santa Anna of Mexico, starte in 1835, at
which time San Antonio had a population of 7000. 7The
fall of the Alamo, March 6th, 1836 (when Travis, Erdckgtt, )
Bowie and 180o brave Texans perished), and the battle of
San Jacinto, April 22d, 1836, ended the rule under the
Mexican flag, and the "Lone Star of Texas" was born.
The annual celebration of "The Battle of Flowers" on
