William Howard Taft was born in Cin-
cinnati, Ohio. Sept. 15, 1857. Graduated
from Yale College in 1878-from Cincin
nati College of Law in 1880. Was appointed
Civil Governor of the Phillipine Islands in 1901
Secretary of War 1904-1908 and also in
charge of the Phillipine administration
