Some were seekmg homes in the golden west,
Wives and husbands parted to meet no more
And were hoping to prosper there.
To depend on the Lord for their guide.
When the life boats were lowered into the sea,
Wheh each lighted deck slowly disappeared.
And many were left t0 sink:
And no boat could they see on the wave,
Neither money nor friends could deliver them,
They were rescued that night but their friends so dear
They were helplessly at death's brink.
Went down to a watery grave
