Douglas County Courthouse
Additional Details:
Completed in 1865, the Douglas County courthouse served as the seat of government for may years. Following the fire of 1910 which nearly wiped out the town, the county seat was moved to Minden, and the courthouse became the schoolhouse for Genoa for forty years. It is now a museum under sponsorship of the Carson Valley Historical Society displaying pioneer memorabilia, an excellent Washoe Indian exhibit, and valley artists paintings. The old jail remains intact. |
