Belmont the county seat form lone in 1867 and held it until Tonopah won it in 1905. Belmont is one of the best ghost towns in Nevada. There has always been a few people living here which prevented looters form hauling the town away. Nye County Court House is in the left midground. 11,807 foot high Mount Jefferson is trying to push up through the clouds in the background. It has forty feet of snow on top.
