Tucumcari
Whether fiction or fact, the accepted story is that the mountain
is named for Kari, the daughter of an Indian Chief, and her lover
Tocom. In Memoriam of their love, Wautonomah, her father
named the mountain Tocom-Kari. Later it was changed to Tucum-
carifor the town of the present day.
