The La Paloma Bar and Museum pictured here stands
directly across the street from the Lincoln County
Court House Museum in Old Lincoln Town. This pic-
turesque village of the old west has been well pre-
served by the Lincoln County Historical Society. It
is said that the outlaw Billy-the-Kid had many a gay
time here. It was from the balcony of the court
house where he made his last daring escape, killing
his two guards to gain freedom. An outdoor pageant
picturing the days of Billy is presented each year
for visitors to the area. Old Lincoln Town is on U. S.
Highway 380 between Capitan and Roswell, New
Mexico.
