John W. Kern was born Dec. 20.1840. Is a college
and law school graduate. Has practis ed law
in Indianapolis, Kis present home, for many years
Prominent in the State for his active interest
in politics and admired and respected for his sound
and progressive ideas on all great public quest-
ions. He has been a mem ber of the Indiana State
Legislature and the democratic leader in the Sen
ate of that State. In Indianapolis he is very pop
ular in the best social, literary and business circles.
William Jennings Bryan was born at Salem, Illinois
March 19,1860. In 1881 he graduated from Illinois Col
lege being the valedictorian of his class. He became
a lawye in 1883 practicing in Jacksonville, Ill. until
1887 and since fhen at Lincoln Neb. He was a mem
ber of Congress during 1891-5. Was nominated for the
Presidency July 10 1896 and also in 1900, but was,
defeated both imes by Wm McKinley. He is now ed
itor of the political magazine "The Commoner which
is published by himself at Lincoln Nebraska.
