"Wide Awake was eight years old when purchased ji
May, 1921, for $3,500. She was brought from India whn three
years old, is well trained, as gentle as a kitten and never sa
happy as when with children.
She is the youngest elephant in any zoological park inthe
United States and, with one exception, the only elephant m AL
any park west of the Mississippi River. When she reaches
maturity she should be about nine feet high.
