The stone astle of Fort Pemaquid, built by Sir
William Phips as a part of the Fort in 1692.
stroyed by tlhe French in 1696
English in 1729. Partially destroyed by the Ameri-
cans in the Rebellion in 1775. Reconstructed by
the State of Maine in 1907-08 as a Memorial. The
three flags, English, French, and American, repre-
sent the nations who have at different periods con-
trolled it
high and 6 feet thick, and enclosed a half acre of
ground. The Old Fort House in the rear is about
200 years old.
