BARSTOW, CALIFORNIA
Barstow started as a railroad town, today the highways
bring most of the people to Barstow. Highway 66, known
as the National Old Trails, a continuation of the Santa Fe
Trails has undergone a great number of route changes during
its existence. Up to about 1925 the business district of Barstow
was located where the Santa Fe shops and yard is today.
Every time there is a road change some towns die, others
come to life. Up to 1917 it was a two day trip from San
Bernardino to Barstow, today it can be made in a couple
of hours. In 1913 there was not 300 cars to enter California
