OROVILLE DAM, CALIFORNIA
As a part of the Oroville Dam Project the State
of California constructed this $3.2 million fish
hatchery on the Feather River at Oroville. The
annual migration of salmon and steelhead trout
will be captured as they travel upstream as far
as a fish barrier which will divert them into a
fish ladder. The hatchery will handle 20 million
eggs a year and will raise 9,000 yearling salmon
each season in the long concrete rearing ponds.
Visitors are welcome every day in the year.
