Most prominent of the old structures is the
famous Murphys' Hotel. Built in 1855 by Sperry
and Perry it was first known as MITCHLERS'
HOTEL. Its old register includes such illustrious
travelers as Mark Twain, U. S. Grant, Henry Ward
Beecher, Thomas Lipton, J. Pierpont Morgan,
Horatio Alger and many others.
