Aida de Acosta flew Santos-Dumont's airship #9 over
Paris, June 29, 1903. Santos-Dumont followed on his
bicycle.

Robert Fowler, left California Oct. 25, 1911 and de-
spite plane crashes and delays "did not quit" but com-
pleted his cross-country flight at Jacksonville, Florida,
Feb. 8, 1912. Hol der of many "firsts in aviation" he
served as president of the Early Birds in 1961.

POST CARD
Starting from San Francisco Bob Fowler crashed in his
30 h.p. mod. B Wright trying to cross the Sierras, at
Colfax. The plane was rebuilt and he started again
from Southern California. Seeing this photo he wrote,
"a good landing, I was able to walk away".

He was the first U.S.pilot to set a world's altitude re-
cord (1911). He was president of the Early Birds of
Aviation, 1937.
