Fran Bera was winning co-pilot, 1951, and won as
pilot in 1953, 55, 56, 58, '61 and '82. In plane
shown she set a world altitude record in class C-1-D.
In 1971 she flew in the London, England air race to
Victoria, B.C.

Woman Transcontinental Air Race, Inc. which has held
the Powder Puff Derby for thirty years.

Jerrie Cobb, in this year's Powder Puff Derby, is the
only woman to be qualified for outer space. She has
logged 27,000 hours including recent mercy flights in
the Amazon region of Brazil taking doctors, missionar-
ies and medical supplies to remote Indian tribes and
critically ill Indians out to distant clinics and hospitals
for The Jerrie Cobb Foundation of Moore Haven, FL.
