THE APPLES GROWN NEAR
COUNCIL, IDAHO
are among the most perfect in the world. These apples
have taken first place wherever exhibited. At the Inter-
Mountain Fair at Boise, Idaho, in 1909, 48 prizes were
taken out of 50 entries of fruit.
Apple trees at 5 years near Council average about 3
boxes of apples per tree; at six years they average about 6
boxes to the tree, and at 8 years they average about 12
boxes to the tree.
The Council Mesa Orchards are near Council, Idaho,
and Mr. S. D. Piper, President of the Council Fruit Grow-
ers Assoctation, says: "I know the lands of the Council
Mesa Orchards well. They are beautifully situated on a
mesa near Council, have deep and fertile soil, and their
freedom from injurious frosts, together with their fertility,
make them, in my opinion, one of the best fruit locations
in the United States."
