IDYLLWILD, CALIFORNIA
This mile-high resort is located in the San Jacinto
Mountains. The mountain slopes are heavily covered
with pines and big-cone spruce. Near the town are
a great number of camps. The area was the hunting
grounds for the Indians from the lower valleys. Indian
rock writings are found near the village. Modern
Indians do not know the meaning of the mysterious
hieroglyphics. Scientists have traced in them the
Montezuma frog and hold to the theory that these
were made by the same race as the Aztecs of Mexico.
