IF YOU have no bees, or have never had any of our
gentle Italians, we should like to have you make
a trial of them. Our bees are carefully selected
for gentleness, industry, and hardiness. You can
keep them close to the house, as shown in the picture
on the opposite side, or even in your barn or attic.
They may be handled with impunity, and will not
molest any one unless maliciously disturbed. Even
though you have but small space you can put in a
few hives from which you can harvest honey for your
own table. It isn't much work to keep a few bees;
the children can take care of them if you haven't the
time. You will soon be so interested in them that
you will want to peep into the hives yourself, we are
sure, for there is no more interesting occupation
than bee-keeping.
